We are Reading for Fun!

“We are reading for pleasure is the single biggest factor in success in later life, outside of an education. Study after study has shown that those children who read for pleasure are the ones who are most likely to fulfill their ambitions. If your child reads, they will succeed – it’s that simple.”

Bali Rai, UK author young adult fiction.

The Lancashire We are Reading campaign launches on 12th March 2018. During

this year of reading, Royal Cross will pledge to promote reading for pleasure and

to develop our pupils’ ability to read in depth across the curriculum.

Our children will be celebrating World Book Day and classes will be out and about visiting libraries.

School Library

A big THANK YOU to Mrs. Rainford and Mrs. Gregory who worked hard to re-launch our school library. They updated the library system and checked all the books and story sacks, making sure our library is up to date and fun to use.

Our school librarians have also been busy getting to know the new library systems ready to support our dinner time library club which runs each week.

We have been looking at new books to buy that help to explain deafness and sign language. We have also looked at books in different languages that reflect some of the home languages of our children.

Well done everyone!

Royal Cross School has signed up to the GREAT SCHOOL LIBRARIES campaign!
